Goodbye Grandma J

My "Grandma J" passed away recently and we headed to California to attend her beautiful funeral. At the funeral my brother, Jason, and my cousin, Jocelyn, got to share their favorite memories of her and I would just like to take a minute and share a few of mine.

She was the most giving person ever, she never felt complete if you didn't leave her house without a parting gift of some kind. Also, you never went hungry at her house, still to this day when I smell pot roast I think of her yummy smelling house. She loved mail and always made such a big deal out of cards I would send her--I should have sent more. She was a girly girl, she loved her hair done and her make-up on. She was honest and opinionated, she thought "Brinkley" was the silliest name ever--I loved her candidness! Last summer, she lifted up her shirt and pulled a twenty out of her bra to give to me, I thought it was hysterical. She was authentic and genuine, loving and caring, I wish my kids had the chance to know her better.

Life lesson: Life is too short to not be honest and compassionate, so love a little more and forgive a little easier, send a card, make a call, lift up your shirt and pull a twenty out of your bra!

We had a wonderful time seeing family and I wish I would have taken more pictures, I only pulled my camera out at the funeral and I missed soooo many people I should have taken pictures of...bummer! SEE BELOW.

We drove the whole way with two 1-year-olds, they were awesome, I'm not saying it was easy, just that they were better than expected! We spent the night in Mesa, AZ on the way there at my brother, Jason's, house and then we spent the night in Flagstaff, AZ on the way home--that night was game 1 of the Lakers, Nuggets series and we got to see the last few seconds of the game in the hotel--awesome. (What's with these nail bitters, come on Lakers!)

My mom and dad, aka Papa and Grammy!

My niece, Hailey.

Here's our family that were able to attend, we're missing Andrea, Aimee and her family and Jeremy's family. I had a to add a picture of Hailey, because she missed this shot because nature was calling!

Mom, dad and the sibs.

Binky Jada.

Jason, my bro, and his fam!

Me, my brother, Jeremy, and my cousin, Ryan. We used to hang out and drive around town in Jerm's truck. We were all BC students and institute junkies. I can still remember when they each met their wives and the whole courtship thing. Karrie and Eliza are lucky girls!

Me and my cousin, Jocelyn, quit possibly the craftiest person ever!

My sis ,Brittany, and Brinkley

Hannah Banana, Montana, kumquat!

Our family---we still don't have a descent family picture!

Brax...he's got the Kobe scowl on his face.

My bros.

David and Dallin, my nephew.

Hannah and Jennifer, my sister.

Papa Randy and Binky!

Grandma J was certainly a Grand Ole Lady. The best mother-in-law I ever had. No pun intended. I was always treated like a king at their house. She will be sorely missed. Loved the pictures, you got some great shots. I really enjoyed you guys and all my family. It’s always awesome to see my children and my grandchildren. We sure need family get to gather more often. Not just at funeral and weddings. Can’t wait to see you and your family again.
