Up, Up and Away!

I was pulling out of the garage this morning on my way to work and there were hot air balloons everywhere. I love that about Albuquerque, apparently it's the hot air balloon capital of the world. It has something to do with the crisp air and the elevation, we're more than a mile above sea level. We're the highest metropolitan city...yes, we are even higher than Denver, the "mile high city."

Every year in October there is a huge 10-day festival and people from around the world hot air balloon together every morning and night, it's amazing. The sky is just littered with them. Here's a few pictures I took from my yard and some I took on my way to work from the car. (We live outside of town, that's why it looks a little barren, but I love it, the views are amazing! Click on the first picture to see all of them off in the distance, all the little specks are hot air balloons. The last picture is one that landed and the "balloon crew" in the truck with the trailor on the back, comes and finds them and takes them back to where they started.)
