Confessions of a New Mommy, Part One

I have to confess it is nothing like I anticipated. The labor and delivery, the mommying—none of it. It’s hard and it makes me appreciate my mother more and every mom in the world who has sacrificed so much for their children. It is the most rewarding experience of my life and I feel blessed to say that I too am a mom. Before I ever knew Brinkley and Braxton I desperately wanted them and every moment I feel so blessed that my greatest dream has come true. I remember that every time I prayed while I was pregnant I prayed the same prayer, “Heavenly Father, please bless them every moment of every day.” I was just so afraid that if he wasn’t constantly watching over them this dream of mine wouldn’t come true. Now that I have them in my arms healthy and safe, I feel so indebted to my Heavenly Father for these miraculous gifts. I’ve said it before; I will now live my life proving I deserve them.

I am just so happy and here’s why:

Their tiny feet.

Sleeping, because they love us.

They are a tiny bit jaundice, so they “sunbathe” 15 minutes a day; it is so entertaining to watch.

A little something I like to call the “Burrito Supremes.”

Here’s my hubby multitasking with our little girl. I love this man so much and I can’t say it enough, I fell blessed that he’s the one beside me on this journey!

You always put things so eloquently. I loved seeing pictures of them. They are the cutest, healthiest looking burrito supremes I've seen. I'd take 2 please!! Anyways- you are in my thoughts. Love ya

What I remember most about becoming a mom for the first time was how vulnerable I felt- that if anything happened to this little thing that I was instantly attached to, how heart broken and devastated I would be.

And you will pray for the rest of your life and theirs that Heavenly Father watch over them every minute of every day.

I could talk about babies all day long! I love it!

Lastly, I thought of one of my favorite quotes as I was reading your post- "It is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us."

Congratulations again- I'm sure you're an amazing mom!

Oh, and my two bits of advice- BabyWise and Mylicon. Both work like magic!

Oh Amanda aren't they the most beautiful babies, you guys did a fabulous job. I just want to hold them. Abby's pregnant, finally, and due the end of Sept. So i will have a baby to hold soon.
I'm so very happy for you! You've always had a special place in my heart, I guess because you are a Clement.
Love ya! Neva

Becoming a mom is pretty overwhelming in the best way, isn't it? Your babies look so sweet- and to have them both asleep! Wow!

I have that quote Mandee mentioned on a board in Julianne's room. I love it. I reminds me every time I look at it how she's so much closer to God than I am, and how I need to keep her that way. And amen to the BabyWise! Saved. My. Sanity.

Oh, I'm so excited for you! I wish you were still here so i could bring you dinner and come hold the itty bitties for a while.

They're SOOO cute! They (almost) make me want to go for another one. :) I hope your first few days and weeks are going smoothly as you transition. Just take it one day at a time and know that you actually will sleep again. Amen to the Babywise. Darya and I both loved its philosophy. Both my boys are great sleepers because of that. (Don't expect them to be on a schedule quite yet though) Anyway, they are adorable! Congratulations!

One word comes to mind - edible. Completely edible! They are so precious. I am glad you all are doing so well. Keep the updates coming! I have not mailed out the present yet (big surprise!) cause we were slammed with illness and eye infections over here. I swear you will get it by the time they turn 2.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for more pictures!!! I think about all four of you guys EVERYDAY. I L.O.V.E. their hair, so stinkin' adorable. They are of course GORGEOUS, wouldn't expect anything else. :) Give em some hugs and kisses from me!

Good Luck with everything. It really is the hardest job in the world. My bits of advice go right along with Mandee. I can't say Babywise enough it will honestly save your sanity and exhaustion. Also if you can get past the first 6 weeks you can make it through anything.

Wow!! They are so perfect! You did such a great job, David too. I love your blog, keep the great pictures coming. I agree, Babywise is really great. Jenn saved my life during my first month of having Jack home, so call us if you need us. I miss seeing you & wish that I could hold those two little burritos! Love, Darya
