THE OSCARS
The 79th annual Academy Awards are now just yesterday's news, but if you are interested, I'll give my review of the evening's festivities. The reviews are mixed, but I think Ellen did a great job and was so funny. I laughed out loud a few times. Again, if you know me, you know I love Ellen. David and I went to her show about a year and a half ago and it was such a blast. I hear that tickets are hard to get, but we didn't have any problems. Here's the link: The Ellen DeGeneres Show - Tickets David said he would probably never go again, but I would in a heartbeat. We got tons of free stuff: We each got a year's supply of laundry detergent, David Gray's CD and Nip Tuck Season 2 on DVD. Anyway, so I thought she did a wonderful job. I watched her today on her show and she cried about what a dream come true it was for her to be the host. I cried too.
The show is always too long and very few of us are interested in many of the awards that are presented, but the stuff that I wanted to see was worth the rest of the junk. Here are my most memorable moments: The comedic song by Will Ferrell, Jack Black and John C. Reilly, I know it will pop up on the Internet somewhere if you missed it, it was hysterical! I loved Jennifer Hudson's acceptance speech. I didn't want Forest Whitaker to win, so that was a low point for me. I did love how Leo DiCaprio was mentioned so many times and many of his films were in the montages they created to represent the different aspects of film. I loved all of the musical numbers for best song. And I loved that
Martin Scorsese won best director and his film won best picture, he seems like such a genuine and sincere man. I love Reese Witherspoon, so she wins my vote for best dressed. She looks so fabulous lately. By dropping that sleaze-bag of a cheating husband, she sure looks better, you go girl. (Look at what a difference a year makes!) I also loved Jennifer Lopez's dress, she looked amazing. Here's a link to more pictures and articles about the evening.
