A furniture store in our mall announced it was going out of business and they have a bed in there that I have been drooling over for months. So my negotiating skills kicked in and I asked what they would be willing to sell it to me for...the original price marked $999, the current price $699, the guy told me that I could have it for $599.
I call my cheap husband and he says no way!
So a few days later I ask they guy again and he says I can have it for cost which is, $569.20--weird number I know.
Again, I ask my cheap husband and he says no way.
So then David and I have a heart-to-heart and I remind him that we have never had a real bed, just mattresses on a frame and that I really love this bed and he finally says that I can buy it, but I can't pay a penny over $400.
So a few days later I go into the store again---the bed still isn't sold and I tell the guy that I'll give him $400, he says no way. GRRRRRR. I leave him my information and tell him if he wants to sell it to call me.
Well sure enough on the last day they are open he calls and says that if it's not sold by the end of the day I can have it for $399. So I said, "If you'll take $399 in 7 hours, will you just take it now?" And he agrees and I got the bed, thanks to my cheap husband, for $399. And David even told me that he thought I got a great deal! (Coming from a cheap guy, that's a major compliment!)

Cheap husbands are great. They keep us in check. Except for when I spend $500 at costco and have nothing to show for it. Thats when I try to convince my husband that he spent it...not me. That usually never works though....I need a new plan.
What a steal! That bed is gorgeous! I might need to borrow u and your husband to help me get some good deals... I'm terrible at that kinda stuff. Maybe this will help me change my ways!
AWESOME!! I really like it! Way to go David! I have to admit, I love to get a great deal so sometimes it helps if the hubby is cheap cuz I'll bet ya really feel good about that bed NOW!
Great bed for a great price. Aren't you glad that David kept you from overspending? $400 is a great price; look at the money you saved. Now you can buy my grandchildren more toys. But next time you update your blog, please include pictures of my precious grandchildren.
Nice. What a beautiful bed. I know how you must have felt- Jon and I started off with a box spring and mattress. I finally convinced him to let me get the metal frame off of Craigslist. The real trick will be getting him to let me get the bed! Cheap-o husbands. I bet you're both happy you got such a beauty for a great deal!
I love it - David is the best. He and Rich should go shopping together - can you imagine what deals they would come home with? I get embarrassed sometimes by Rich's offers to car salesman etc but we do usually get what we want - eventually. Good thing you were persistent and patient. I can't wait to see it up in your room.
I think it is a gorgeous bed. You are so lucky. I love to check your blog after Aimee's. I have enjoyed watching your children grow.
