Who They Are Now

Brinkley and Braxton turned 2 on Saturday and Brady turned 6 months on Sunday. Where has the time gone? I was cleaning out my closet and couldn’t bear to give away the shoes I wore to the hospital when I went into labor with Brin and Brax. I never wear them (at 37 weeks of pregnancy with the twins I was going more for comfort than style) and I’m confident I won’t again, but the moment I went to put them in the giveaway pile, I couldn’t…they just brought back so many fun memories of that wonderful day two years ago. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but nothing could have ever prepared us for the journey since their birth. Until you hold your own child in your arms, you’ll never fully understand the sacrifice, unselfishness and devotion required of parenthood. I hear all the time, “I don’t know how you do it.” And my response in always the same, “This is my life, I have to!” This is the path we chose and I love it.

Brinkley Jada—2 Years

She knows what she wants and she’ll let you know repeatedly if necessary. She loves books and fighting with her brother. She loves cuddling and being wrapped in a blanket. She’s passionate about coloring. Her hair is usually in her face and she has this adorable way of pulling it back with both hands. She’ll let me do her hair on her terms and usually with some kind of treat involved. She loves talking on the phone and will rip my phone out of my hands if given the chance. She likes to pretend that Brady is her baby and loves to shower him with kisses. She loves being rocked and sung to before bed and usually joins in. Some of her faves include Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, the ABC’s and Old MacDonald. She’s taken a liking to cake. So we pretend everything is cake. She tough and smart and sweet and is just sheer joy to be around. Her sweet presence in our home is a wonderful blessing. I adore her and will always feel honored that Heavenly father chose me to be her mom.

Braxton Reese—2 Years

He’s such a sweet little boy. He’s tough and sensitive and funny and silly. He loves to jump and joke around and fight with his sister. He’s passionate about balls and can point them out on anyone and anything. He’s recently started talking more and can express himself more easily. He has the sweetest way of saying, “Pease.” David and I try to impersonate him all the time. He loves getting into everything. He can now open the fridge. Great. He’s the main reason that our house is beyond baby proofed. If there’s a will, Braxton will find a way. He too loves books and pointing out the different things on each page—he’s actually really good at finding obscure things on a cluttered page. To say that Braxton loves cars would be the understatement of the century, he’s crazy for them. Toy ones or real, Braxton’s a car lover. He has a huge smile and an infectious laugh. He’s such a joy. The rare moments that he lets me cuddle with him are so precious to me. To be his mom is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Brady Cameron—6 Months

I seriously doubt that there is a sweeter baby on this planet. If you challenge me then my response to you would be…”Well, then you haven’t met Brady.” He has set the standard for sweet babies. He rarely cries, he is always on the verge of smiling, he’s game for anything, he loves all of his toys, he sleeps through the night and is easy to get to sleep, and he wakes up happy and stays that way all day. I always ask him where his wings are, because he seriously is an angel. He has the biggest, baby blue eyes and chubby cheeks. We think he’s absolutely perfect. I know in the chaos of our lives he arrived at the perfect time and brought with him peace that fills our home. He allows all of us to love and smile a little more. He loves eating his baby food and jumping in his jumper. Yep, he’s a jumper just like his big brother. He loves to watch Brinkley and Braxton and puts up with a lot from their excess of love towards him. Like last night when Braxton starting choking him while trying to “bush his teef.” And you guessed it; Brady has no teeth to be brushing! The joys! Brady is our little, big guy and needless to say is loved by all. To be his mother is such a pleasure. His sweet personality is developing daily and I can’t wait to see more, because I seriously love it all so far.
