10 Reasons why we think you should move to New Mexico!

This goes out to all of you who have said to us that you would like to move to New Mexico (and there are a lot of you!) or to all of you that think that us moving to New Mexico was an odd choice! Our top 10 reasons that you should come join us in "The Land of Enchantment" or more specifically the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area:
(In no particular order.)

1. Home prices are very reasonable. Do some research: New Homes in Albuquerque, New Mexico - D.R.Horton - America's Builder, LOVEYOURNMHOME.COM, KBHome New Mexico – New KB Homes in Albuquerque, Centex Homes New Homes in New Mexico (NM) , New Homes Builders, House Construction.

2. The climate: The average high in July is 92.3, low in January is 23.8 (Seems cold, but there's relatively no wind in the winter, therefore no windchill factor. I never even purchased a winter coat, this past winter, I just used the same jacket I had in Las Vegas.) We have 300 sunny days a year and only 9.4 inches of rain per year.

3. In a new study, Albuquerque ranks 8th among the largest U.S. cities for offering the best lifestyle options for families on the move. Albuquerque earns another high ranking - for families relocating - New Mexico Business Weekly:

4. Forbes magazine named Albuquerque the top place for business and careers in 2006.
Best Places For Business And Careers - Forbes.com

5. Kiplinger's Personal Finance named New Mexico's largest metro region No. 3 in the nation for being one of the smartest places to live. #3 Albuquerque, N.M. - Kiplinger.com The article describes the area as such, "This laid-back city offers resort-town ambiance, a boom town economy and cow-town prices."

6. I have no evidence to back up my claim, but people are nicer here. You do have to remember that I am coming from Las Vegas, Nevada, therefore that is what my frame of reference is based upon. Servers at restaurants, people at church (except of course for my friends in the Mt. Vista ward in LV), really anyone you come in contact is friendlier and more compassionate. I am friends with all my neighbors, I talk to strangers at the grocery store and I have yet to be flipped off while driving (and I do have a problem not going quickly when a light turns green.)

7. There is a major University, a LDS temple and a large airport.

8. The sunsets are amazing and you can enjoy a night's sky full of stars...there's no pollution to block your view!

9. Sales tax is only 6.875%. (Do ANY of you have lower???)

10. We're here!

Yeah, affordable house prices! There is no such thing here in LA. It sucks. I have told Nate that one of my favorite places in this world is Santa Fe. I LOVE IT THERE! I am talking him into going there on a vac. so if we come, we will call. You are a lucky girl to live in such a beautiful place. I love it.

I think Jared would shoot me if I told him we should move to NM. Although since jared is a sucker for a good deal, and affordable housing......wait, wait, I have three crazy kids, I can't leave the comforts of having grandma nearby. Liz can verify. So we will just have to come see you on vacation!
